About us

Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church is a church where all are accepted for who we are, forgiven of what we’ve done and loved because of Christ. As a member of His family, God has a purpose for you to fulfill. We, as the body of Christ, follow His will and work together as one (I Corinthians 12: 12-31).

The Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church was organized by the Reverend Ford B. Reed, on April 18th, 1920 with less than fifty members. The worship meetings were held at the home of Brother Gates on the Southside of Pontiac, Michigan. As the church began to grow, several tents, homes and a building on Bloomfield Street housed this Christian membership over the years. With the assistance of some spirit filled leaders as Minister James Fleming, John Powell, Charlie Munson, and Brothers James and Sam Whiters were instrumental in helping to establish structured.

From 1920 to 1954, the church went through several transitions. Under the leadership of six of the eight Pastors that led Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, many Building Fund Committees were formed to raise funds to support the ministries of the church. In October of 1954, the First Baptist Church of Pontiac donated the Baxter Mission property to Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Lenworth Minor Sr.  The Macedonia Missionary Baptist church members then moved from Bloomfield Street and settled in a building with a basement located on the Corner of Alton and Motor street, (in the area where the parking lot is now sited).

After years of hard work, prayer, faith and dedication, the church goal of building a sanctuary became a reality. In 1959, the church moved into their new home at 512 Pearsall Street. Five years later, in 1964, God allowed Macedonia to build a church parsonage across the street from the church. Ten years later In September 1974, under the leadership of Deacon Albert Branch and The Building Fund Committee, The James R. Fleming Educational Center was built adjacent to the sanctuary. This new addition currently serves as a multipurpose facility for cultural and enrichment programs, activities, Sunday School class, and church and community meetings.
